Pause in the Parks

August 01, 2019

There’s no denying that exploring NYC in the August heat requires moments of pause. Among the city’s hundreds of indoor museums, galleries, boutiques, and theatres, there are also alternative options for catching a break outdoors.

Every Tuesday morning and Thursday evening during the month of August, you can enjoy the cooler portions of the day with some outdoor yoga. Under the shade of the trees at Bryant Park, instructors from all over NYC will help to guide you through mindful breathing and proper poses for yogis of all levels. Wellness brand Gaiam has donated mats for use, so you can take the mile stroll from Lex Hotel without carrying your own mat.

If you’re looking for an activity that’s just a notch more passive, you can still head to Bryant Park any weekday from 12:30-2:30 pm for live piano performances on the Upper Terrace.

You can also catch some shade at the Union Square Farmer’s Market every Wednesday and Saturday. Go early to peruse the produce during the coolest and least crowded hours.
