Every Fourth of July, Macy loads up barges with colorful dynamite and coasts down the East River past crowds of onlookers, who gather in parks and on neighborhood rooftops. In anticipation of America’s 240th birthday, Lex Hotel is going to give you the logistical know-how to navigate your way through a bunch of red, white, and blue celebrations. Families and individuals staying in the Madison Square North Historic District are perfectly situated to tackle a variety of different events, indoor and out. From walking tours to pub crawls, this Fourth of July is a guaranteed blast.

New York’s Seaport District in lower Manhattan transforms into its annual "Festival of Independence," a two-day bash dedicated to music, fashion, and exquisite food. These historic neighborhoods are partnering with Noisey, on behalf of Vice magazine, and there will be a dedicated stage on Fulton Street. Things kick off Sunday at 1 o’clock and wind up each night at 9 pm, July 3rd and 4th. There will be a diverse lineup of performers, including kid-friendly jams, from rock ‘n’ roll to soul. On Monday evening you’ll either want to stroll down to Pier 17 for fireworks or turn back for one of these suggestions.

If there’s any fans of history in your group then the Fraunces Tavern Museum’s nighttime tour of Revolutionary War New York is your ticket. Incredibly, the meeting location is a brisk ten minutes from the Seaport festival. The tour goes begins at 4:30 am, so you might want to finish that cup of coffee. But if beer’s more your libation, when the nation celebrates there’s plenty of it. Bar None’s Red, White and Brew Pub Crawl has you covered with draft specials on everyone’s favorite lawnmower beverages. Wherever you end up, be prepared for fireworks big as New York City.
